I am a queer, experimental artist working in multidisciplinary mediums including wet process photography, cyanotypes, installations, and more. After developing an interest in figurative studies and exploring various forms the body may take, my work changed and developed a new language.
In the home studio or the darkroom, I prefer to function in isolation so that there is nothing to distract me from the creation process. Regardless of medium, I focus my attention on the materiality and the techniques necessary to alter and elevate an image above its original form. I consider the process to be as equally important as the final image. When approaching an installation, I consider the overall composition and focus on the highly contrasted forms in my imagery. Thus, the emphasis should be in considering how the created image affects the viewer’s perception of life; therefore, it is the artist’s responsibility to challenge the narratives society introduced and start a dialogue that challenges the status quo.
